Official LK Domain Registry tariff
The Registry publishes a five-category tariff for the Latin-script .lk namespace. Categories reflect the type of name (top-level vs open second-level) and its structure (letter count, whether numeric). All figures are VAT-inclusive per the Registry's own labelling.

First year vs renewal - why to compare both
A promotional first-year rate is not the same as a long-term renewal rate. Two of the tracked resellers publish a separate renewal price on their tariff pages, and the Registry direct tariff applies year after year without a promotional step-up. The comparison below is the same headline picture reduced to its two most decision-relevant columns.

2, 5 and 10-year prices - published and calculated
Longer prepaid terms currently reduce the effective annual cost at the Registry and at the resellers that publish a multi-year schedule. Only the figures below are exposed on the provider's own page or derived transparently from a publicly published schedule - anything else is intentionally left out of the table so the comparison stays honest.
- LK Domain Registry (published). 2y LKR 9,500, 5y LKR 20,000, 10y LKR 30,000 Economy. The 10-year package costs LKR 30,000 total, equivalent to LKR 3,000 per year when averaged across the full prepaid term.
- LankaHost (published). 2y LKR 7,500, 5y LKR 16,000, 10y LKR 25,000 Economy.
- Provider.lk (calculated). One-year list rate LKR 4,500 with published multi-year discounts (2y -5%, 5y -20%, 10y -40%). Calculated totals: 2y LKR 8,550, 5y LKR 18,000, 10y LKR 27,000.
- register.lk (unverified). The vendor does not publicly publish a 2/5/10-year prepaid schedule that we can extrapolate reliably. Multi-year totals should not be inferred by multiplying the one-year rate as if they were a real quote.
If the domain is a long-term brand asset, compare multi-year pricing because the Registry and some resellers currently provide meaningful term discounts.
What is included with the domain fee?
A .lk domain fee at LK Domain Registry buys the registry record and DNS delegation. Resellers may bundle extras such as free DNS management, URL forwarding or a small hosting/email allowance. Evaluate bundled extras separately against your website's actual storage, workload, backup, performance and support requirements rather than assigning their retail value to the domain itself - one buyer may rely on them, another may not use them at all.
How we verify these prices
Because this page is intentionally comparison-heavy, the verification method matters as much as the numbers. Every LKR figure above is read from the provider's own public pricing page on the date shown; nothing is guessed from a competitor's summary. In particular:
- When a provider page contains conflicting tables (a current tariff plus one or more older tables lower on the page), we use the current tariff table nearest the active pricing heading and treat the older duplicates as superseded. LankaHost's public page is the current example.
- When a specific figure is internally inconsistent (for example, a 5-year price that is lower than the 1-year price with no discount context), we mark it as unverified rather than reproducing it. LankaHost's LKR 14,000 five-year Premium figure is inconsistent with adjacent 1/2/10-year figures on the same page and is treated as unverified.
- When official Registry pages conflict, we use the dedicated current Domain Payments tariff page as the source of truth for pricing. A legacy Registry FAQ that references an older Rs 3,000 + tax basic-domain figure is superseded by the current tariff.
- Confidence flags on every multi-year cell: P published, C calculated from a published schedule, U unverified. We would rather leave a cell blank than reproduce a number the provider does not stand behind.
- Tax status is provider-specific. Registry direct is VAT-inclusive. LankaHost states government taxes are included in published prices. Provider.lk and register.lk should be verified at checkout - we do not generalise a single SSCL/VAT rule across the market.
- Prices in this market move. Re-check the provider page before committing to a multi-year prepay.

Provider.lk lists a flat LKR 4,500 for the one-year term with published multi-year percentage discounts. LK Domain Registry's direct Economy tariff is LKR 5,000.
Why is a .lk cheaper at a reseller than at the Registry?
LK Domain Registry states that officially appointed resellers may receive registration discounts, which can allow them to offer .lk domains below the Registry's direct retail tariff. Resellers also set their own retail pricing and may bundle additional services.
Are these LKR .lk prices VAT-inclusive?
LK Domain Registry's tariff is explicitly VAT-inclusive on the current Domain Payments page. LankaHost's page states that its published prices include government taxes. Provider.lk and register.lk publish sticker prices; verify VAT/SSCL treatment at checkout for those two. Prices checked 2026-08-29.
Are the multi-year figures on this page real published prices?
The LK Domain Registry and LankaHost multi-year prices are published directly on those providers' pricing pages. Provider.lk publishes a one-year rate and separate percentage-based multi-year discounts; the 2/5/10-year totals shown on this page are calculated from that published schedule and are labelled as such. register.lk does not publicly publish a 2/5/10-year prepaid schedule that we can extrapolate reliably; treating its multi-year totals as simple multiplications of the one-year rate would be misleading.
How does this page handle conflicting prices on a provider's own site?
When a provider page contains conflicting historical tables, we use the current primary tariff table nearest the active pricing heading and do not use older duplicated tables lower on the page. When a figure is internally inconsistent (for example, a 5-year price that is lower than the 1-year price with no discount context), we mark it as unverified rather than reproducing it.
